Drawings, Student Work

Douglas Stearns

"I really enjoyed taking a step back and going back to basics by simply drawing.  For these drawings I started most of them by quickly and impressionistically drawing the object itself and then letting things evolve from there.  I also tried to highlight different features of the works and represent them in the drawings."

Materials - ink, tracing paper, paper, gel medium, tape.  Each measures approx. 8" x 10".

Drawings, Student Work

Students are asked to draw the sculptures they make in the class. Drawing exercises include experimental and observational practices. Below are examples of student work. Some drawings are done with layers of tracing paper, others are diagram style and some experiment with non-traditional materials such as glue.
