Elements and Principles, Assignment Guidelines

Step 1

• Review the elements and principles of art design in the following posts.

Step 2

• Search this blog to find a visual example for one of the following elements and principles (see list below). Can be the work of a professional artist or an image of student work. 
• Organic Line/Shape
• Rectilinear Line/Shape
• Focal Point
• Color Scheme or Value Range 
• Scale (show a difference in size)
• Symmetry
• Asymmetry
• Repetition
• Actual Texture
• Simulated Texture
• Horizontal Line
• Vertical Line
• Diagonal Line

Step 3

• Post image of the artwork on your blog. 
• State the element/principle you selected. 
• State the artist's name. 
• Include source link to the blog page where you found the artist/artwork. 

Step 4

• Post a personal photograph that also demonstrates the element/principle you selected in Step 3.
• You may search photos you have already taken or take a new photograph. 
• State the element/principle. 
• Include the words "personal photo".
