Paper Stacking, Student Work

Douglas Stearns

"I chose an apple for my representational form.  After stacking the paper and sanding it down I then created a paste with the sanded paper, dust, and glue.  This paste allowed to add on to the form as well as create a different surface texture."

"For my non-representational piece I used decaying buildings, peeling paint and exposed brick for my inspiration."

"I stacked paper both horizontally and vertically to expose different layers and textures of the paper.  I also added a lacker on areas of the form as well as roughly scrubbing on ink to further the variations in texture."

Note: Top sculpture measures approx. 4" diameter.  Bottom sculpture measures approx. 6" square.
